Archive for November, 2011

Frank met me at 7 am in Tampa Bay and we launched our kayaks into a wet and drizzly morning. Frank had never kayaked before so we went over all the basics and paddling techniques before launching. Frank took off like a natural and it wasn’t long before we were stalking snook with top water She Dog lures from MirrOlure. Frank landed several snook up to 28″ after learning how to walk the dog. After the snook bite shut down we moved out onto the flats and continued using the She Dogs to catch nearly 20 trout with several coming at around 4 pounds. Frank got his limit of trout and we were off the water by noon. Keep in mind, trout season is closed in Tampa Bay during the months of November and December. These fish were taken during October.  Here are the pics..

Sorry for the late update, I’ve been very busy on the water and have been neglecting my computer for some time! So without further delay…

I had the good fortune of taking Dave and son Dave jr out on a charter during the last week of October for some low tide action. We launched our kayaks into the waters of Tampa Bay at around 7 am. The tide was flushing out and our first stop was to try and pick up a few snook in an area I had found good numbers in days before. With the strong out going tide snook were actively crashing baits and made easy target for Dave and Dave with MirrOlure She Dog topwaters. They both hooked up to several snook each but were unable to land any except for one. Dave jr landed his first snook ever, and though the fish was not very large I assured him we would have another shot at a bigger fish later.

After the snook caught on to us we moved out onto the flat to look for trout and redfish. It didn’t take long and we were into a good bite catching trout and redfish for the next several hours. Together the boys bagged two slot redfish for dinner and enough trout to fill their cooler! Before heading in we stopped to get one last shot at the snook.. Dave jr was able to bag a fiesty 27″er and a few more redfish before calling it a day. Finally tally was 15 trout, 7 redfish and 2 snook. Enjoy the pics
